Scarves aren't just for function. The popular accessories for your head and neck are as much about fun and fashion as they are about keeping you warm. You can use a scarf to dress up your hair and make you look funky or fabulous.

Hippie Chic

If you're into the whole Boho look, give your look an instant flower-child glam and work a Bohemian style with your scarf. Take a thin scarf, and fold it until it is no more than 1 inch wide. Place the center of the scarf in the middle of your forehead, then pull the ends straight back and tie them so you're wearing your scarf horizontally across your head.

Braided Into a Ponytail

Braid your scarf into your hair to give your ponytail an instant boost. Secure your hair in a ponytail with an elastic band, and tuck one end of your scarf into the band. Then start braiding, using your scarf in place of one section of hair in a three-sectioned plait. When you reach the end, use your scarf to secure your braid into place by wrapping it around the hair once and tying it in a knot.

Bun

Whip your scarf into a bun shape. You need a scarf that's fairly long and wide to wear this style. Fold the scarf in half diagonally so it forms a triangle. Place the longest end on your head about an inch off your hairline. Pull the rest back to the nape of the neck and twist it into a bun shape, tucking it in underneath at the nape. Just make sure to cover all of your hair in the back.

Or, Just Wrap it Around a Bun

If you don't want to cover up your whole head, try an edgier take on the ballerina bun. Instead of tying a ribbon around your perfectly polished chignon, tie a scarf around the base of your bun and let the ends hang loose.
