Launched in 1998, the eponymous Tracy Reese label is a fave among the girly, cocktail-dress loving set. With a client list that includes Beyonce, Eva Longoria, and Alicia Keys, Ms. Reese counts as an established New York City fashion mainstay. Whether you wear a pair of her shoes, or sport a dress from her secondary line, plenty, Tracy Reese is a must-have for ladies who love that feminine, fun look.
About the Designer
Born in Detroit, Tracy Reese finished her degree at Parsons School of Design in New York City, then completed a design apprenticeship at Arlequin. Following that, she launched her first line at New York Fashion Week in 1998. She's served on the board of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and participates in charitable events around the city. Now an international brand, Tracy Reese also collaborates with other major clothing names such as HUE and Keds.
Lines
The Tracy Reese brand includes several divisions that cater to different demographics. Her best known line, Tracy Reese, features body-friendly, feminine designs, with most items above $100. The Tracy Reese Black Label collection includes the designer's most exclusive looks, with a luxury price point to match. Plenty by Tracy Reese takes a more ethnic, international approach to fashion with a more edgy appeal than the more traditional Tracy Reese brand. Each collection also includes footwear, with a collaborative effort with Keds for the plenty line. Tracy Reese has also launched a lower-priced diffusion line called Frock! for more thrifty fashion lovers.
Where to Buy
Tracy Reese fashions are available in high-end designer stores, such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom. Also look for her main shopin the Meatpacking District in New York City, which features each clothing line, home goods and beauty products. If the wilds of Manhattan seem too far away, or the mall is out of reach, never fear: Tracy Reese items are also available online at her website, or through select Internet boutiques.
Identification
Tracy Reese loves to design dresses that float, flutter and pop. She never shies away from bright pinks, floral patterns, or ruffles, and beadwork makes frequent appearances. The cut of her garments flatters the body and often fits closely, but is more wearable by the average woman than many high-end designer lines. Each collection usually contains a lot of dresses, some coats, and several knits. Common fabrics include cotton, silk, rayon, and wool, with touches of leather.
