If you're got oily combination skin, you've likely experienced those days in which you just want to put your head under the pillow and stay all day, because facing someone would just be beyond embarrassing. Your oily skin often looks greasy and shiny, in addition to blemish-prone, as that oil can clog your pores. And don't even think about wearing makeup, as it doesn't stand a chance against staying on your skin, or does it? Actually, you can rock makeup that is both good for your epidermis and stays around awhile, and it's called tinted moisturizer.

Tinted Moisturizer Low Down

Think just because your skin is oily it doesn't need moisturizer? Well, think again. You've got combination skin, which means parts of it is oily, while other parts are sometimes dry. A good way to combine your moisturizer and makeup into one is to use a tinted moisturizer. This nifty product is actually facial moisturizer that has some color to it. It's not as heavy as foundation or concealer is and actually can do some good for your skin.

Picking the Best Moisturizer

Because your skin is combination, you can't don just any old tinted moisturizer; you've got to go with one that will fit with your skin type. Your best bet, according to New York City makeup artist Jessica Liebeskind in an MSN Beauty & Fashion article, is to go with a moisturizer that is oil-free. You've already got plenty of oil on your skin, so you definitely don't need to add more. Also, water-based, noncomedogenic tinted moisturizers can do your skin some serious good -- they are light and non-clogging, which means you won't have a caked-on look that causes blemishes.

Prepping Your Skin

Before you apply your handy dandy tinted moisturizer, you've got to get your skin ready to receive it. Wash your face with a cleanser made for oily skin before you put the moisturizer on. It gets that extra grease off of your skin, so the moisturizer goes on smooth and looks gorgeous. And if you tone, now is the time to do it. Once your face is clean and primed, you can go ahead and use your ring finger to lightly rub the moisturizer over your skin evenly. Place a little oil-absorbing finishing powder over top for extra shine protection.

Gals with seriously oily spots on their skin typically experience episodes of shine throughout the day. Nix those greasy moments by blotting your face with oil-absorbing papers. And you may have to adjust your makeup throughout the day because of this, so make sure you bring it with you to keep looking flawless and fresh.
