Fashion-forward women in African wouldn't dream of leaving the home without a headscarf to complete their outfit. To dress up your outfit or to camouflage a bad hair day, create your own head wrap. Let your fave colors fly with a bright, patterned scarf. Pair this look with a cotton summer dress, or wear a shimmery tank and your fave booty-shaking jeans and take that African head wrap out to dance.

1.

Fold your scarf in half horizontally to form a long ribbon about 6 inches wide for this look. You'll need at least a 1.5-foot long scarf for this African wrap, but the scarf can be up to 3 feet long -- the extra fabric gets tucked in.

2.

Bring the center of the scarf up to the nape of your neck. This wrap style begins at the back of the head. With the center of the cloth tight against your neck, bring the ends around your shoulders, up by your ears and cross them in the front of your forehead. Then wrap the ends around your head again until they meet at the back of your neck.

3.

Double-knot the ends to keep your wrap secure on your head no matter where you go.

4.

Tuck the ends of the scarf up under the folds to neaten up that look.

5.

Check yourself in the mirror. Adjust the scarf so it lays neatly across your head.
