Dandruff is one of the most embarrassing beauty problems there is. Not only are white flakes on your clothes a turnoff, the act of constantly scratching your scalp isn't so sexy either. Send that dandruff away, and do so fast. With the help of a few products and tips, your mane will soon be ready for its closeup.
Shampoo With Zinc and Sulphur
When dandruff gets in the way of you and a flawless mane, do something about it. One way to get rid of the funky flakes is to wash your hair with shampoo that contains zinc or sulphur. Both ingredients act as antibacterial agents and clean your scalp right up. Using such a shampoo once a week typically clears up your problem and restores your scalp to a healthy state.
Sunscreen
Believe it or not, your flakes could be caused by sunburn, and not dandruff. Just like your skin, your scalp peels when it gets burned. Because these flakes look just like dandruff, it's easy to confuse the two. Plain old dry air -- the kind that shows up in the winter -- can also cause your scalp to lose its moisture and peel. Protect the part in your hair by applying sunscreen, and use a moisturizing shampoo to keep your scalp hydrated. A small amount of sunblock applied to only your scalp will keep it protected and won't cause a greasy look. A hat works well, too. For even greater benefits, install a humidifier in your home and drink plenty of water.
Shampoo With Salicylic Acid
You've probably heard of salicylic acid as a big time pimple fighter, but it can also calm down an embarrassing dandruff issue. Salicylic acid helps to slough off nasty dry skin and keep it under control. Using the shampoo once or twice a week can help to end your dandruff dilemma and restore your heavenly hair.
Vinegar Rinse
A home remedy to try to keep that dandruff in check is a vinegar rinse. Mix 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar with 6 teaspoons of water and apply it to your scalp. Skip rinsing and instead wrap your head in a towel, then hit the sack. Apply another batch of the mixture to your hair when you wake up, then rinse it out. The vinegar helps to eliminate the dandruff and gets your hair and scalp looking and feeling healthy.
