A cap sleeve dress allows you to show off your sexy shoulders and figure with its sleek design. However, sometimes a gal gets cold wearing such a frock. Since you can't exactly throw on your snowboard jacket or your hoodie, you need to find something that gives you the coverage you need, while not compromising your stylish look. Fortunately, a few options are available.
Cropped Caplet
A cropped caplet is totally chic and looks stunning when paired with a cap sleeve dress, says stylist and author Jene Luciani. The stylish design won't clash with your sophisticated dress and will actually likely add to the ensemble. Since the caplet is cropped, it won't hang down far over your dress and cover it up, like winter jackets or similar coats can. No, this cover-up is sassy, stylish and a must-have for every stylista.
Shrug
Similar to the caplet, a shrug covers just your shoulders and a little below, which means it won't interfere with the style of your dress. It will, however, give you some coverage. Go with a color and fabric that complements your dress; you don't want to make your stunning ensemble look cheap or silly because of a badly chosen shrug.
Structured Blazer
A structured blazer adds sophistication and edge to a sexy cap sleeve dress. Luciani recommends going for a blazer that features bold shoulders, to give your body shape and definition. This type of blazer keeps you covered and warm, without making it look as though you are swimming inside.
What to Avoid
As you probably guessed, there are cover-ups that are far from complementary when it comes to cap sleeves. "With cap sleeves, you want to avoid visual bulk up top and show off the style, without sacrificing warmth," says Luciani. Therefore, avoid cover-ups that have shoulder pads or any other features that make you look like a football player. Additionally, Luciani recommends staying away from too-thin cardigans that cause the cap sleeves to bunch up underneath.
