Pants seem pretty basic. We all have plenty of them in our closets and have tons of different types of pants. With so many different options, it can be tough to figure out how best to style them. If you're a little stumped on how to make your pants look awesome, all you need are a few tips that'll take your pants' look from fab to drab.
Wear your jeans in tons of different ways. Denim pants are about as classic as they get and they go with lots of things. Go casual in a basic T and fantastic flat sandals, or dress it up with your favorite blouse and high heels. Even make your jeans office-appropriate by wearing them with a button-up top and your fantastic blazer. Get rough and tough in a tank and motorcycle jacket, or keep it comfy in an oversized sweater.
Tuck your top into your high-waisted pants to show off their higher-rise cut. If you're wearing a fitted top, try breaking your look up by throwing a cardigan or jacket over your outfit or wrapping a belt around your waist. Fuller, looser tops look fantastic bloused out. If you want to go more daring, sport your high-waist pants with a cropped top. Wear a top that shows just a little bit of belly, or if you're more conservative, throw on a top that hits right where your pants start.
Pull out a pair of slacks and make them more formal or super-casual. Try pairing a loose-fitting pair of slacks with a tank top and flat sandals for a fab daytime look. Make your slacks look chic by wearing them with a pair of pumps and a looser-fitting boyfriend blazer. Keep your top fitted here to balance out your proportions. Work an even more fun look by making your blazer bright and colorful.
Pair your skinny pants with a looser-fitting top. Whether you're wearing leggings, skinny jeans or fitted leather pants, your basic styling rules are all the same. Since pants with a skinnier fit make your bottom half look wider, you'll want to wear them with tops with a more flowing fit. Try a silky blouse or full tunic. Add a fab high-heel sandal or pump to give your legs extra length.
Wear harem pants for a more fashion-forward look. These looser-fitting pants are the opposite of skinny pants when it comes to styling. Since harem pants are bigger on the bottom, they tend to look better with a fitted top. Try wearing your harem pants with a snug tank or T. Make them more structured with a blazer, and finish your look off with a pair of heels.
The most important thing to remember when wearing pants, or any other piece of clothing, is to make them your own, so make sure you feel comfortable in your pants ensemble!
