Gray and curly girls who want to smooth things out may daydream of stick-straight, hair. Gray hair is hair that has lost its pigmentation. It becomes coarse and dry and more porous. Shine flies out the window, and your hair's fuzz factor rises. Lots of product is needed to create a straighter look, but that's not going to stop a silver-streaked siren, right? When your crowning glory is silver and curly, but you're dying for a slick and smooth 'do, there are ways to get it straight.

1.

Hydrate your scalp before you shampoo by applying a pre-shampoo treatment with a moisturizing oil. Apply it to your scalp and massage it in. You can leave it in for up to 30 minutes for shiny strands. Rinse it well before you shampoo your 'do.

2.

Wash your hair with a smoothing shampoo designed to de-fuzz frayed ends. Step it up a notch with a conditioner that restores gloss to your grays. Comb through with a wide-tooth comb.

3.

Rake your strands with your fingers to shake excess moisture out. Stay away from towel-drying. It roughens up your hair's cuticles and makes them fatter.

4.

Apply a smoothing serum to your palms and to your hair. Smoothing serum glosses your cuticles to boost sheen.

5.

Use a paddle brush or natural boar bristle hair brush with your blow dryer on medium heat. Give your head a good all-over blast, shaking the blow dryer back and forth.

6.

Use a paddle brush or boar bristle hair brush and lift up 2-inch sections of hair. Blow dry the section until dry. Let the section cool before moving on to the next. Aim your blower downward so the hair cuticles lie flat, which makes locks look shinier.

7.

Spray your silver strands with a finishing spray. Stand back. You may get blinded by your hair's brilliance.
