Want to look like a Kardashian or even a Trump? Get yourself an expensive watch and get ready to look impressive. Luxury watches been a status symbol for years. One such watch is the Montblanc, which you can identify almost immediately by the Montblanc symbol -- a white star with rounded edges that symbolizes the peak of Mont Blanc. But watch out, because authentic Montblanc watches can cost several thousand dollars and replicas are common. Knowing how to spot a fake Montblanc watch can help you look and feel like the high roller you really are.
1.
Get ready to be your very own Sherlock Holmes. Begin by looking at the crown -- the top part of the watch -- closely. The Montblanc star symbol or logo should be etched on to the crown and never glued. If you see signs of glue or the images are off-center or blurry, the watch is probably fake.
2.
Continue your inspection and look the lines and lettering on the watch closely. Everything should be precisely lined up, and the lines should be crisp and clean. Anything that looks messy or off-centered may indicate that the watch is a fake. If the band is leather, examine the stitching, which should be even, smooth and precise. Remember that luxury watches are expensive for a reason -- every detail should be impeccable.
3.
Now get out a flashlight and examine the watch from all sides. Spend extra time looking at the dial, because this is where the most work goes into making the watch. Replica Montblanc watches often will have dirt, fingerprints or other signs of ink, dirt or dust, especially on the watch face. Authentic watches, however, will appear to be in pristine condition. Think like royalty and accept nothing less than perfection.
4.
Look at all the words on the watch and keep an eye out for misspellings. Obviously, an authentic Montblanc watch will not have misspelled words.
5.
You're almost done. Now turn off the light and look at the watch. Authentic Montblanc watches will have a luminous dial that glows evenly and is strong enough to read in the dark. If the watch is a replica, it may not glow in the dark, or the light will be dim or uneven.
