When someone says to you, "Girl, your hair looks fine," do you take offense? If you have thin hair you might. Getting your locks to look sophisticated is often a bit of a challenge, as they usually just want to lay around and look limp. But you don't have to don a tired-looking mane. You can look sophisticated and give your 'do some oomph with a few styles.
Pretty in a Ponytail
You might think a ponytail isn't sophisticated, but think again. Ponytails look chic when you style them the right way. First, apply a root booster to your wet hair, then blow dry until it's completely dry. Collect your hair in the middle of the back of your head, and secure it with a tie. To get a stylish bump in the front, spritz some hair spray on the front of your head, then use a brush to back comb it. You'll be left with a style that makes your mane look fuller and is appropriate for any occasion in which you need to look sophisticated. Since hair ties can damage fine hair, don't rock this look every day.
Dare to Wear it Down
Some fine-haired gals think wearing wearing their hair down is the kiss of death. But they can pull off this sophisticated style with the best of them, provided they do it correctly. First, wash and hydrate your tresses with volumizing shampoo and conditioner, then apply some mousse to your 'do. Place your hair in large rollers, and blast them with the dryer. Once your hair is completely dry, take the rollers out and run your fingers through your mane. Your hair will come out looking full, voluminous and sophisticated.
Heavenly Half Up
Add some volume and life to your locks by putting them in a half-up, half-down 'do. Apply some root lift to your wet tresses, then flip your hair upside down and get to blow drying. You'll come up with hair that looks super voluminous. Gently brush the front of your hair back, then use your fingers to collect the hair from your ears on up. Pull up some of the hair on the crown of your head towards your forehead to achieve a bump effect, or just leave it alone. Secure it in a barrette or clear hair tie and you're good to go. You can wear this look with a dress, skirt or pantsuit and look sophisticated and stylish.
Beautiful in a Bun
One advantage fine-haired foxes have over gals with thick manes is their abilities to pull off a chic bun. Gals with fuller hair often end up with pouffy mounds on their heads that are supposed to be buns, but end up hot messes instead. To get this look, pull back your dry hair towards the top or middle of the back of your head, then get your twist on. Circle the twist around itself, then wrap a hair tie around it. Your bun will look ballerina beautiful, as well as sophisticated. Pull down some of the hair around your face to soften things up a bit, then keep things in place with a spritz of hairspray.
