Show Off Those Fierce Holiday Heels!

Check out my top three tips for finding that perfect heel to rock with your party dress

A pedicure is key if you are going to wear open-toed shoes.

From the runway to my Fierce Modelland Book tour, I love rockin’ a good pump. Being tall never stopped me from wearin’ a seriously high heel – I even tell my girls that if you’re tall like me, don’t be shamed. Instead, embrace that height, find the tallest heels you have, hold your head up high and work them stilettos!

During the holidays, I want nothing less than the sparkliest, sexiest, most strut-worthy shoes I can find, without breaking the bank of course. Check out my top three tips for finding that perfect heel to rock with your party dress.

Rule #1: Pick out a perfect pump. I know y’all love those straps, but they just break up your ankle. Elongate those legs with a pump that matches your skin tone!

Rule #2: Leanin’ towards an all black ensemble? Add pop to that outfit thanks to a bright pair of heels. And a matching clutch never hurts!

Rule #3: Sometimes there’s nothin’ sexier than a decorative accent to the shoe. I love me some perfect crisp black pumps with one serious, lean silver heel.

Peep-Toe Booties

Let your pedicure peek out with a pair of short boots with open toes. Wear with: A jumpsuit [link to jumpsuit article], of course! Cuff the legs or try a cropped version to really show off those booties.

Glitter Heels

You don’t have to go all the way designer to indulge your inner Dorothy. Pick up a pair of glittery shoes in a very simple shape (like a plain pump or peep-toe) for a there’s-no-place-like-home vibe that is surprisingly versatile. Wear with: A gingham pinafore—kidding! Try a bold-shouldered ‘40s-inspired sheath for a high-drama, high-sparkle look.

Velvet Pumps

A soft plush pair of shoes is the perfect way to add texture to a tailored look. Look for a style with a square toe and chunky heel to conjure up a Catherine Deneuve-in-the-‘60s feel. Wear with: Masculine-style separates or a classic le smoking tuxedo.

Color Blocking Stilettos

Not bold enough to wear a fuchsia ‘n green ‘n cobalt jumpsuit? Try out the color blocking trend with a pair of shoes that feature two or more contrasting shades. Wear with: A little black dress. It won’t know what hit it!

Over-the-Knee Boots

Is there a sexier way to keep your legs warm? Over-the-knee boots add serious oomph to a simple outfit. Wear with: A sweater dress with leggings. But beware! Bare more than that and risk channeling a pre-makeover Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.

Cap-Toe Pumps

Classic cap-toe pumps are pure Parisian chic, even if you can’t swing a Chanel suit. A metallic toe on a black base (or vice versa) has a bit more party je ne sais quoi, non? Wear with: A bright curve-hugging sheath.

Pointy-Toe Platforms

Pointed toes plus higher-than-high heels equal some serious edge. Wear with: A ruched cocktail dress that suggests more than it reveals.

Now that you’ve found the right pair of shoes, don’t forget to walk tall in them! As beautiful as they may be, shoes are nothing more than a platform for the main attraction—you!
