Lace is a very elegant, feminine fabric that can be matched with several accessories and styles to set the entire tone for the dress. Whether your personality is soft and dainty or rough like a rock star, there's plenty of things you can wear to make your lace dress work for you.
You have several options when it comes to matching your shoes with your lace dress. If you're wearing a traditional all-black lace dress -- perhaps to attend a cocktail party or dressy affair -- you can choose a basic pair of black strappy heels, or choose something that's a lot more colorful. Combine a hot pink pair of peep toe stilettos with your lace dress for attention-getting style. For a light lace colored dress in cream or gold, pair matching heels with your dress for a monochromatic look that supports your dress style, keeping the attention on your lace pattern.
Add simple jewelry with your lace dress, such as long layered pearl necklaces or a simple metallic single chain. Wear your hair up to expose long rhinestone earrings or simple pewter studs. Either wear a large cocktail ring, such as a matching pewter or pearl cocktail ring, or matching bracelets. Simplify your accessories by picking one or two items and leave the rest in the jewelry box.
Don't lug around an oversize handbag with your elegant lace ditty. Pair your dress with a clutch purse, such as a mustard colored leather flap bag for a casual style. For a dressy affair, try a gold sequin clutch instead. Leave your larger purse nearby, perhaps in the trunk of your car, if you may need to retrieve something from the purse later. Stock your clutch with money, identification cards, lip gloss and your cell phone.
When you want to stand out in your lace dress, add a birdcage hat accessory in the same color as the lace on your dress. This super eclectic style will have heads turning to ogle your fashion-forward look. If the hat isn't your thing, slide a matching lace glove on only one of your hands. This edgy look will catapult you as a style maven. For one final touch, add a pair of thin textured stockings.
