There's no shame in admitting it -- picking the right hairdo for a date can be nerve-racking. If your hair is naturally curly, you might wonder whether you should rock your curls, or tame your tresses with a flat iron. When it comes down to it, you want your date to like you for who you are. So, whichever style you choose, make sure you're comfortable from head to toe, so you can enjoy being fabulous and uniquely you.
The Basic Rules
When it comes to hair preferences, some guys like it curly, some like it straight and some like both. But if he wants to go out, then you already know that he already sees something that he likes in you. So the basic rule in choosing a hairstyle for your date is not to switch it up and confuse your date with a look that's drastically different than what he already has seen. This means if you're thinking about changing your hair color, chopping several inches of your hair or adding extensions, don't do it right before your date.
Naturally Curly
If your friends already know you as the girl with the gorgeous curls, then there's no need to straighten your hair to go out. If you shampoo and condition your hair with the right products, you'll notice your damp curls pop into cute spirals and ringlets. Then all you need is a good curling cream or mousse to hold your curls in place for hours. Be sure not to use too much product, because you want your date curls to be soft, silky and touchable.
Straight Tresses
Some divas are flat-iron wizards who can make their hair go from curly to straight in record time. If this describes you, then silky, straight tresses might impress your date. But there are a few things to keep in mind. Don't straighten your hair if you're going to spend your date worrying about rain or humidity ruining your hair instead of enjoying yourself. And be honest with your date about your natural texture. If he compliments your hair, thank him and tell him you did it yourself.
Compromise Looks
Full, thick curls are beautiful, but if you're self-conscious about your hair, you might feel more comfortable taming them just a little bit for your date. Slick back your hair with gel and gather it into a bun for a neat look that doesn't require any heat styling. You can also define your curls with a warm curling iron, and keep curls out of your face with a pretty headband or hair clips for a controlled, classic look.
