When you don't have itty bitty feet, you might feel like every shoe you try on is a squeeze. Instead of punishing your feet for being wide by wedging them into too-tiny shoes, though, you should pamper them and give them the support they need. After all, your feet support you all day, every day, so supporting them right back with the right footwear is just about the least you can do -- it's not only comfortable, but it's easy, too.
Wide-Heeled Shoes
Almost every woman has a horror story about wearing heels that were too small. If you feel like you're in one of these horror stories every single time you wear heels, though, you need to rethink your shoe strategy. You aren't necessarily able to wear the teeny tiny heels that other women do, but that doesn't mean that heels altogether are a no-go -- you just need wider ones. Wider heels not only feel better on your wide feet, but they look better, too -- thin heels only accentuate your foot's width.
Men's Shoes
Don't let the signs in the shoe store trick you -- men's shoes aren't just for men. Shoes aren't separated into women's and men's just because of style (though you probably find more pink ones in the women's section). It's just as much about size, because men generally have bigger and wider feet than women. If your feet are wide enough, though, you can comfortably slip into a pair of men's shoes without feeling like you are walking out of them.
Cushy and Stable
Wide feet are often accompanied by low arches -- even if your feet aren't perfectly flat, you need extra support to move comfortably. Shoes with extra cushioning are ideal for wide feet, which don't always support your body effectively on their own. When you switch to a cushioned shoe, you might notice less muscle and joint pain in your knees and feet -- and when that happens, you might notice that you're in a better overall mood, too.
Spacey Eyelets
Shoe scientists put a lot of thought into crafting the perfect pair. Every aspect of the shoe, however small, makes an impact on the fit -- just look your shoes in the eyes and you'll see. The shoe's eyelets -- those holes that the laces pass through -- determine a lot about the fit of the shoe. When you have wide feet, the best shoes have eyelets that are further away from the shoe's tongue. When the eyelets are close to the tongue, it makes the shoe tighter on wide feet.
