Having a pair of dark blue slacks in your wardrobe is like having the keystone to an array of totally chic outfits. They’re incredibly versatile, so when it comes to choosing your shoes, you’ve got lots of options. Whether you prefer heels, flats, boots or so on, and regardless of your event, you can make these slacks work wonders with the rest of your ensemble.
Whether you are dressing for the office or a night out on the town, you can wear pumps with your dark blue slacks. Both your pants and shoes are totally classic and complement each other effortlessly. If you want to take your look (and height) up a notch further, go with platform pumps. Also, you’ve got a fair amount of color freedom as dark blue is highly neutral. Go with another basic or a major pop of color like red or neon.
For spring and summer weather wear wedge espadrilles with your slacks. This is a great way to keep your outfit casual but ultra feminine. Go with a totally natural-tone or a pretty floral print on your shoe. Both work when juxtaposed with a dark neutral like blue.
Regardless of the length of your slacks, you can wear ankle boots with them. If your pants are shorter you’ll be showing a little calf in a chic way and if they're longer it’ll look like you’re wearing a regular shoe. Go bold in color if you want but don’t be afraid to combine dark blue with another dark neutral like black. According to style expert, Adam Glassman, mixing navy and black, for example, is doable and chic.
If it’s casual Friday or just a sick-of-heels day, wear ballet flats. Basic flats in a solid color work really well while embellished ones do too. Try a shoe with a cute bow on the top or one with beading at the toe. While slacks often fancy-up an outfit, wearing flats with them can counteract this and allow a more casual ensemble.
Take a chic menswear-inspired style -- oxfords -- and combine it with your slacks. To make sure you’re looking and feeling feminine, try a pair of heeled oxfords in a solid neutral or a dual tone combination. These come in ankle boots, mules, wedges and more, all of which can add an edge to your look.
