From Indian weddings to red carpet events, toe rings have been adding sparkle to women's feet around the globe. Most women wear toe rings on their index or middle toes and place them above the knuckle at the toe's midpoint. This placement works well with sandal straps that cross at the base of the toes. If you push your toe rings lower or stack toe rings, wear sandals that expose the length of your toes.
Complementary Colors
For a look that intensifies the color of your toe ring as well as the color of your sandals, accessorize in complementary colors. A brilliant turquoise toe ring shines brighter against orange sandals. Style a blue-based fuchsia toe ring with yellow sandals that have a green undertone. Go with cool colors such as black, gray, turquoise and indigo when you wear a silver toe ring. Warm up your palette to red, brown and bronze sandals when you wear a gold toe ring.
Casual and Funky
Strike a boho chic look by wearing flat, summery sandals or flip flops with your toe ring. If your toe ring is simple, consider sandals that feature embellishments such as beading, embroidery, small shells or cloth flowers. If you have a blinged-out toe ring, you can either go subtle with your sandals or go bold with metallic fabric or rhinestone decorations. Veer toward a funky look by wearing tribal-style sandals in patent leather that feature beads or sequins on the cuff.
Sexy and Strappy
Stars such as Aniston and Elle Macpherson have shown up at galas and red carpet events wearing toe rings. When you want to go for the glam, aim high with your heels. Stilettos, platforms and wedges featuring skinny straps work well with a basic but bright metallic toe ring. If you need a lower heel, consider a sandal with a kitten or wedge heel, or a flat sandal with an interesting design, such as a gladiator sandal.
Foot Notes
Wearing sandals and toe rings attracts attention to your feet. When your toes are the star of the show, keep your feet and toes looking their best.Treat callouses and rough spots with pumice stone and moisturizing lotion. Trim your toenails and keep them buffed or polished. If your feet have tan marks that do not match the shoes you want to wear, apply a light dusting of bronzer to even out your skin tone.
