Roller sets may seem a little old-school but they're not just for your grandma. Putting your tresses in rollers can result in gorgeous, totally glam hair. You just have to know how to pull of the look. From luxurious, bouncy curls, to pinned-up curly looks, your hair can look fab just using a few rollers.
Start with freshly washed and blow-dried hair. Clean hair holds curl much more easily than dirty hair does, so make sure to get your mane squeaky clean before starting for the best results.
Spritz your locks with a heat protectant spray. You'll want to use hot rollers to get your hair perfectly curled, so protect your tresses from heat damage before you start.
Decide which size hot roller you want to use. It will depend on the length of your hair, so if you have long locks, try large rollers. Shorter haired ladies will want to use small or medium-sized rollers. If you want really tight curls and you have longer hair, feel free to opt for smaller rollers.
Start rolling your hair. Begin at the top of the hair, rolling hair into hot curlers. Divide hair into at least eight sections to get the maximum curl. Let hair sit in rollers for five to 10 minutes. Lots of hot rollers come with settings that will allow them to cool naturally after a certain amount of time. To make your curls look more organic, roll hair vertically and switch the direction of the curl with each section.
Take rollers out of hair. Once hair has cooled, run your fingers through it to loosen your locks. Leave hair as is or part in in the center or on the side. Make sure to give your hair a good misting a hairspray to keep your curls in place.
If you want curls that'll last you for longer than a day, don't use hot rollers. Wash hair. Instead of drying it, roll it up in regular rollers. Then sit under a hooded dryer. Allowing your hair to dry in a curly style, guarantees your curls stay in check for much longer.
