The retro rockabilly look harkens back to the Bettie Page era of pinup girl fashion. Feminine, but more edgy than romantic, the makeup regimen consists of applying matte foundation, doing scarlet lips and creating bold eyes and eyebrows. Bold, however, does not mean ungroomed. Take a page from the book of Dita Von Teese and make your rockabilly eyebrows immaculate, arching and dark. While some rockabilly queens go to extremes and tweeze or shave their eyebrows off to start with a fresh look, this can result in scabs and uneven growth.

1.

Clean your brows with a cotton pad and water.

2.

Trim long eyebrow hair with small scissors. Do not obsess over every long hair, or you may wind up with bald spots.

3.

Wax your eyebrows into the classic rockabilly shape. You want to emphasize the arch without taking on a look of permanent surprise. You can achieve this by removing the hair at the base of where your eyebrows arch.

4.

Thin out or remove the hair at the ends of your eyebrows. This widens your eyes and draws more attention to them, a classic maneuver in pinup girl makeovers.

5.

Soothe your tender skin with an antibiotic cream. This reduces itching, inflammation and scabbing.

6.

Darken your remaining eyebrow hair. The rockabilly look is about covering up what you have and re-drawing it on your face with makeup. Eyebrows are no exception. Now that you have trimmed and groomed them, you create a strong, thin line of black, charcoal gray or dark brown that emphasizes the arch of your brow. Fill in sparse areas with eyebrow pencil or brow powder.

7.

Shine up your brow bone with illuminating cream. This creates a brilliant contrast with your highly-shaped, dark eyebrows.
