When you hear the words "cool skin tone," you might think of icy colors like blue and violet. Surely women with cool skin tones can't have fiery red hair! "Poppycock!" you may cry. But hold it, ladies. There's a sexy redhead color for everyone, including cool-toned gals. You just have to bust out your color wheel and take a really good look at yourself in the mirror. 1.

Are you winter or summer? Hey, we're not asking what your favorite season is. There are two types of cool skin tones: winter and summer. Take a look at your face in the mirror under natural light. Winter tones have blue or slightly blue-pink undertones in their skin, while summer tones have blue undertones with a major pinkish hue in their cheeks. Summer ladies also tend to freckle.

2.

Check out your natural hair color. Are you ash blonde? Mousy brown? Typically cool-toned hair has no yellow or golden tones. Your natural color will help you find the right color. If you're super pale and you have light hair, you might want to consider a red color in a lighter tone. The opposite goes for ladies with darker hair.

3.

Now for the fun part; picking out your hair color! Look for non-orangey reds. Oranges and anything too yellowy will suck the color right out of your face and wash you out. Instead, stick with true reds or reds with a bit of purple in them. You'll be stylin' in no time.

Tips & Tricks

If you're not sure if you have a cool skin tone, hold the underside of your wrist over a white piece of paper. If your skin looks bluer than the paper or pink, you have a cool skin tone. If your skin looks yellowish compared to the paper, you're a warm-toned gal.
