Nothing beats acne and restores clear, vibrant skin like a light scrub, a gentle cleansing and removing dead cells that clog pores and cause more acne. Skin care sections in department stores are stocked with tons of expensive products that promise to do all these things -- but why spend a ton of money when you can create your own product at home? Alternative treatments using things like sea salt, lemon juice and baking soda, may help give you clearer skin. Combine three substances that will naturally clean and rejuvenate your skin to create one super, acne-beating face wash.

Pour the lemon juice into the bowl. Add the baking soda. Whisk the mixture, adding the sea salt slowly.

Remove any makeup and dirt from your face. Perfect red lips and smoky eyes are great for a Saturday night date, but they don't aid lemon juice, baking soda and sea salt in getting rid of acne.

Dip a cotton ball into the mixture and apply it lavishly to your face -- it's gonna sting a bit, but grit your teeth and remember that beauty can go hand in hand with a bit of pain.

Let the mixture dry. Take care that it doesn't drip into your eyes. Hang out for about 10 minutes while you wait.

Wash the mixture off your face with a soaked washcloth that's warm, but not hot.

Things You'll Need

3.1/4 cup baking soda

5.2 tbsp. sea salt

2.1/4 cup lemon juice

6.Cotton balls

Tips & Tricks

Use gentle touches when you put the mask on your skin and when you take it off. You want to exfoliate with the sea salt, not scrub your skin so badly you leave it chaffed.

Only use the mask twice per week. Since the salt is an exfoliant, you don't want to use it too often lest you over-scrub your skin. Too much scrubbing can irritate acne.

If you see no improvement within a few weeks, chat with your dermatologist for advice.

Remember to pick up a good moisturizer at the store before you apply the mask. It will dry out your face and you want to keep your skin moist and supple, not fried.
