Honey features both antiseptic and antibacterial properties. It has been used for centuries as a topical antibacterial agent, useful in the treatment of burns, wounds, burns and skin irritation. Not only does it reduce the inflammation associated with acne, it softens without the oils found in commercial moisturizers, and may help heal scars from previous blemishes. When mixed with crushed aspirin or aspirin powder, honey makes an effective acne-fighting mask or spot treatment for fresh pimples.

1.

Crush three regular uncoated aspirin tablets in a bowl with the back of a spoon. You can also use a packet of aspirin powder.

2.

Add a few drops of honey and a few drops of water to the crushed aspirin to make a thick paste.

3.

Massage the aspirin/honey mixture over your face with your fingertips. Do not rub it in, just allow it to sit on the surface of your skin.

4.

Leave the mask on for up to 30 minutes, checking regularly to make sure your skin is not becoming unduly irritated by the salicylates in the aspirin, which are the same active ingredient found in salicylic acid acne medications. The honey will help combat skin irritation with its moisturizing properties.

5.

Rinse your face with cool water and wash with a mild facial cleanser. Reapply the aspirin/honey paste to individual blemishes as needed to help dry them rapidly.
