Sunscreen and cotton shorts are both sure signs of summer. But this can be a problem, because sunscreen actually leaves a greasy stain on clothes, including those fabulous summer shorts. Don't just pop the shorts into the washing machine and hope the stain will come out, because it needs some extra care first.

1.

Try to get as much sunscreen off the shorts as possible with a clean cloth, but don't wipe -- blot.

2.

Apply some stain removal treatment to the stain on the shorts and be liberal about it. Make sure the stain is fully covered with the stain treatment.

3.

Wash the shorts with hot water and laundry detergent in the washing machine.

4.

Look at the shorts when the wash is finished and make sure all of the sunscreen is gone before you put the shorts in the dryer. If you're not sure all the sunscreen is gone, repeat the stain treatment and washing process first.
