Not naturally endowed with long lashes? You don’t have to live with short ones. There are many options available for you to make your lashes grow, from natural methods to help from the pros. Can’t wait for your lashes to grow? You don’t have to—some of these remedies offer instant gratification.
Castor and Olive Oils
Although these oils are not often thought of as the ultimate beauty remedies, they both can help condition lashes and make them grow. To get some extra lash length, dip a Q-tip in the oil (one or the other is fine, just be consistent) and then apply it all over your eye lashes from the base to tip. Be sure to thoroughly saturate lashes with the oil but not to the point where they are dripping (if that happens, pat your lashes with a tissue to sop up excess oil). Leave the oil on overnight and wash it off in the a.m.
Prescription Potions
A relatively new treatment, Latisse, offers ladies who are not blessed with long lashes a chance to grow some on their own. The product has quite a cult following and millions of bottles have already been sold. So how do you know this prescription potion is for you? Without a pro to recommend the product, you run the risk of an adverse reaction. So, be sure to see a doctor who can tell you for sure.
Make Lashes Grow with Mascara
Mascara is one of the easiest and quickest ways you can create length for your lashes. There are many formulations that are designed to give instant gratification (via lash lengthening formulas) while conditioning your lashes to create healthier, longer lashes for the long run.
Eyelash Extensions
Just like hair extensions add length to your locks, eyelash extensions can add length to your lashes. A professional esthetician or beauty tech is the one to turn to if you want longer lashes via extensions. The process can be costly (upward of $300) and can take about two hours to complete. Keep in mind that touch-ups are required but each extension application will last for two to three months.
