Sometimes, you just want to throw your hair into a ponytail and skip out the door. However, perhaps you didn't wrap your hair last night and now you have a big, poufy mess or maybe your hair is not long enough for a ponytail. Hey, when you have to, fake it until you make it with a quick weave ponytail. Throw on this faux pony in just minutes and create an entirely new hairstyle that works for just about any occasion.
Wash and condition your locks. It is always best to start with a fresh, clean head of hair when you are embarking on a new hairstyle. Product-laden locks will look dirty and be full of dandruff from the leftover flakes of gel, hairspray or whatever product you use on your hair.
Pull your hair back into a slick ponytail. If your hair is short, gel it down into even a small ponytail; the trick is to gather your hair at the crown of your head. This is the foundation of your faux ponytail. The gel will slick the hair back and hold it in the style for at least a day or two.
Wrap the weft of the ponytail around your smaller version. Wrap it as many times as necessary to get the weave in place. The ponytail should be fairly full; check in the mirror to make sure it is on straight. Secure the edge of the weft with a bobby pin or tuck it into the hairband of the original ponytail.
Wrap a lock of the faux pony around the hairband and wrapped weft of the faux ponytail. This gives it a more natural look and also helps to hold it in place. Secure the piece underneath the ponytail with a hair pin, so it is not obvious that the hair on your ponytail is not yours.
Style accordingly. If you have a natural hair weave, you can style the ponytail any way you desire. Curl it, straighten it, do it in a messy bun, sky's the limit; if the hair is synthetic, you are stuck with whatever style the hair came in out of the package.
