How to Prevent a Lumpy Bottom on Exercise Pants

Get a smooth rear view in your exercise pants.

When you hit the gym for a workout, even though you're trying to focus on your heart rate and rep numbers, you can't help thinking about your view from the rear. No fashionista wants a lumpy bottom when working it out at the gym. Whether you're fighting that traumatizing fashion faux pas known as visible panty line (VPL) or you've just got a bit of chub on your butt, minimize the lumps in your exercise pants by choosing your clothes carefully.

1.

Slip on a simple thong. Every girl who thinks about VPL has a few thongs in her underwear drawer. Make sure the thongs fit you well, so they don't create even more bulges or lumps, especially if you carry a few extra pounds. Pull on your exercise pants over the thong and check out the rear view -- you should be smoother thanks to the thong.

2.

Go for boy shorts instead. OK -- not everyone can tolerate the fit of thong underwear. If thongs aggravate, especially when you're exercising, try stretchy lace boy shorts instead. Again, make sure the lace of the underwear is loose enough that it won't constrict and make bulges. Put on the exercise pants and the cut of the boy shorts should eliminate bulges.

3.

Think commando if thongs and boy shorts don't work. Ditch undies altogether for a simple lump fix. Pull on your exercise pants to see smooth and sleek lines.

4.

Try exercise pants with built-in control to squeeze out the bulges. This is why you're in exercise pants in the first place, right? Wear control pants with thongs, boy shorts or go commando if you want. You should notice firm control and a slimmer silhouette as you work out in exercise pants with squeezing control.

5.

If all else fails and you just can't feel comfy in your workout pants, try a tunic-length tank top to cover your butt. Don't make it big and dumpy, though -- opt for a fitted tank in a tunic length, layered over another tank, if you want. This look is stylish and easy to exercise in and you can hide the lumps for chic comfort.
