When your hair is lookin’ hot, you just somehow feel a big-time boost of stylish attitude. Rock the perky ponytail look whether you’re stepping out in high style or schlepping your groceries home from the supermarket. Pull your mane back prettily and do a ponytail up in the back of the hair for a style that works every time.

1.

Brush through your mane thoroughly to remove every tangle and to make it smooth.

2.

Squeeze the tiniest smidgen of styling gel into one hand and rub your hands together lightly to spread the gel out evenly over both hands. Run your hands lightly through your dry hair. The styling gel will tame flyaways and help your hair feel like cooperating.

3.

Lift 1-inch sections of hair straight up at the crown of your head. Spritz the roots lightly with a touch of hairspray and backcomb each section to create a pretty lift over the top of your head. Keep going until you’ve got a bunch of teased sections of hair.

4.

Smooth your hair back gently into a high ponytail. As you’re working with the backcombed hair over the top of your head, keep a light touch or you’ll deflate the teasing. Gather the hair high at the crown of your head, right behind the teased bump over the top of your head. Fasten the elastic hair band tightly to hold the ponytail in place.

5.

Separate a 1-inch section of hair from underneath the ponytail. Wrap this tiny section around and around the elastic hair band to hide it. Tuck the end of the hair in and fasten it tightly with a bobby pin.

6.

Grab the curling iron and make big, bouncy curls in your ponytail. As you make each curl, just let them fall from the curling iron without touching them. Keep working until you’ve curled the whole ponytail.

7.

Spritz the curls lightly with hairspray to set them. Finger-comb the curls lightly to arrange them and then spritz them one more time to hold the style.

8.

Give your entire updo a quick spritz to hold it tight.
