Pixie cuts are tricky for round faces because they can make a face look rounder. With a few modifications, though, round-faced ladies can rock a pixie cut. In fact, the right pixie style can give your round face great angles. Maintain your pixie by trimming it frequently.
Defined Pixie Cut
A sleek, defined pixie cut can make a round face appear slim. Keep the sides closely cropped, so you don't add width. But do add multiple layers, which can emphasize your eyes and cheekbones. Make your short pixie cut look sleek and defined by smoothing pomade through your hair while it's damp.
Add Length or Volume
One trick for making your pixie haircut more flattering is to create the illusion of more length by adding height to your hairstyle. Keep the very top of your hair longer. While it's still damp, style it with volumizing mousse to give it lift. If you have curly or corkscrew hair, place duck bill clips at the crown of your hair and lift it from the roots while it dries. If you want a longer pixie cut, keep it tapered so it doesn't widen at the widest part of your face.
Parting Your Pixie
Go modern with a pixie cut that features long, bold side bangs. Part your hair to one side while it's still damp and use gel or mousse to style it so it hangs over your forehead, softly framing it. For an edgy, club-ready look, go with super-long bangs. Slick down the sides of your hair to accentuate the contrast in lengths and volume.
Your styling products and color choices also make your pixie cut flatter your face shape. Draw eyes upward with waves or spikes on top that you mold with hair wax. Paint just the top in a lighter color to draw attention to it. If you have a longer pixie, adding long, thin highlights makes your face look more oval-shaped. Highlight your side-swept bangs with bold color or spritz them with shine serum to make them gleam.
