For some divas, trying out new hair products is almost a hobby. If that describes you, and you can't wait to try out all of the hot new shampoos, conditioners and other goodies on the market, you've probably already seen the Pantene Pro-V Relaxed & Natural product line. These products are made specifically for women of color who have beautiful ethnic hair, whether relaxed or in its natural state. Check out the line's various features and decide for yourself whether it's good for your own hair.

The Basics

Pantene targeted its Pro-V Relaxed & Natural line of products toward dry, damaged hair that needs more moisture. When your hair doesn't have enough moisture, you tend to start getting frizzies and other problems with stubborn locks that you have to jump through hoops to style. So if your ethnic hair is drier than the Mohave Desert, a moisturizing shampoo is a must. The Relaxed & Natural products are also designed for chemically relaxed hair that needs some extra nourishment to counteract damage from the process.

Product Line

Pro-V Relaxed & Natural products include a shampoo and conditioner. Pantene also offers a daily maintenance product -- "Daily Oil Cream" -- that adds even more moisture to your locks. It helps prevent African-American or ethnic hair from breaking off and developing any nasty split ends in between washes. These products might also help give your hair shine in addition to infusing it with moisture.

Is it Good?

The answer to this question depends on each individual case. As a product that moisturizes the hair, it might be a good choice if your hair is persistently dry or breaking off. If your hair type is not African-American or ethnic (relaxed or natural), it's probably not the best choice from Pantene. Keep in mind that some of the Pantene Pro-V Relaxed & Natural products are formulated with oils, such as jojoba and coconut. Certain hair types, particularly ones that are already a bit oily, don't need these additional oils.

Quick Tips

If you're still not sure if this product is right for you, call the company and ask for some samples. Visit your local pharmacy or beauty supply shop to see if it has trial sizes of the products. Ask your girlfriends, co-workers and even folks you meet on the street if they have used or currently use the Pantene Relaxed & Natural collection. Follow the instructions for shampooing and conditioning to the letter to ensure that you get the best possible results.
