Ready or not, pregnant women soon arrive at the intersection of Frumpy Mama and Pregalicious. Don't panic. Just because you're expecting doesn't mean you have to sacrifice one smidgen of style. Each spring and fall, Olian launches a new collection of trendy apparel especially for the fashion-conscious mom-to-be. The brand's South Beach sensibility infuses relaxed comfort with a shot of sexy.
Shortly after getting a degree in fashion merchandising at 22, Olian's creator Lili del Cueto was married with a bun in the oven and nothing to wear. With talent and the support of her husband, she started Olian Maternity. Nearly two decades since her humble start, del Cueto's is among the top designers for moms-to-be. Now with the help of a team of designers, Olian Maternity creates fashions you can find in more than 500 boutiques and big-box retailers in the United States and around the world.
Lili del Cueto
As a teenage fashionista in South Florida , Lili del Cueto made a deal with her parents -- in exchange for any fabric she fancied, the aspiring designer would create all the stylish threads she was lusting for. Besides her Olian label of maternity clothing, del Cueto developed a line of contemporary fashions called analili, launched in upscale boutiques since 2008.
To design clothing that works for real women, del Cueto takes to the street to people-watch. According to her bio, "She jokingly tells her husband that when she goes shopping on weekends she is always hard at work!" The designer keeps her hand on the pulse of today's fashions by focusing on what's gracing the backs of real shoppers in the Miami malls she frequents, rather than top models on the pages of beauty magazines.
The product line includes bottoms, tops, dresses, sleepwear, outerwear and accessories. During the cooler months, when the sweatsuit is calling your name, choose a pair of classic leggings topped with a jersey knit top. Offering the comfort of a tee, a plunging-V or off-the-shoulder neckline gives a dose of flair while super-long hems provide coverage to prevent a belly or booty peek. Mix boat-neck tunics, wrap blouses and peasant tops with jeans or dress pants for round-the-clock style solutions for work and play. Summertime due-dates need not be stressful. Your big belly will be the main attraction with a whimsical spring collection that pairs shorts -- bermudas or Daisy Dukes -- with tops like embellished tanks and sheer, patterned organza tops. You'll have your pick from a abundant selection of dresses, long and short, year-round.
