Whoever thought that two simple ingredients used for a good breakfast also work as a facial cleaner? It makes your skin feel cleansed, and even helps heal dry, itchy skin. Giving your skin some love with natural ingredients and not having to spend a lot of money is a double savings.

Putting on oatmeal and sugar on your face sounds delicious, but a little messy. Natural ingredients that are good for your skin don't always have to look or smell funny. Ever had that cherry tomato effect on your skin? Redness that just won't go away. Oatmeal works at soothing irritated, red, dry skin. Sometimes we can be guilty of sleeping with our makeup on. That's a major skin sin. You will benefit using oatmeal because it gets rid of the dirt and cleans deep inside pores, while sugar scrubs off dead skin, leaving it soft as a baby's behind.

Whether your skin is shiny like a new penny or dry like the Sahara desert, every skin type can benefit using an oatmeal and sugar cleaner. A trip to the local beauty store can feel like your going on a scavenger hunt, you can get lost trying to find the best cleaner for your skin.

Sometimes skin can have a mind of its own. It can react sensitively to any new ingredient. If you start to feel a stinging sensation, rinse your face with cold water.

Using ingredients that are found at home and actually work is an inexpensive alternative to pricey face cleansers. An easy oatmeal and sugar face cleaner recipe put forth by Eleanor Athens on Pioneer Thinking includes: 2 tbsp. ground oats 2 tsp. brown sugar 2 tbsp. aloe vera 1 tsp. lemon juice Mix the ingredients in a bowl to create a paste. Massage the paste on your skin for a few minutes and rinse off with water. Discard any excess paste. It can go bad if not used immediately.
