When the weather starts getting nippy, it doesn’t mean your favorite peachy lipsticks need to go into hibernation. New York City makeup artist Heather Adessa explains: “When most women think about peach lipsticks, they think it’s a color just for spring or summer.” The good news is, it doesn't have to be, assures Adessa. Her favorite, Exude, has the perfect peach tone, called Coral, that’s neutral and goes great with every skin tone and every outfit, no matter the season. Other beauty biz experts gave their top tubes to help you narrow the masses and find the brand that’s best for you.
Custom Blend
San Francisco fashion stylist Dale Janee Steliga creates a custom blend of her own to achieve the best neutral pink lipstick shade. When she’s seeking a lighter lip, Steliga applies Covergirl Outlast LipStain in Nude Kiss No. 427 for a base color. Then, she lines the lips with a MAC lip liner pencil in Subculture and fills them in with MAC lipstick in Creme De' Nude. For a more dramatic look, she adds a bit of her favorite MAC high-shne gloss. “Lighter lipstick makes lips look fuller and bigger, so I definitely wear Creme De Nude by MAC more than any other lipstick color,” she says.
Glo
Professional makeup artist Kate McCarthy says glo mineral lipstick is her favorite for peachy-neutral color. Prep your lips with glo’s lightly peach-scented lip exfoliating wand to get lips ultra-smooth for application. The best of the brand’s peach hues, according to McCarthy, is Aruba, available in the glo Sheer Lipstick, formulated with a blend of antioxidant ingredients including green tea extract and vitamins A, C and E. “If you want to add some punch to Aruba or natural lipstick, top with persimmon lip gloss for an added peachy coral shade," she says.
NARS
Orlando makeup artist Marcella Cardinal says “NARS is a very fun cosmetic line because it has phenomenal colors and a lot of different textures to play with.” The brand’s Sheer Lipstick in Napoli is a light lipstick ideal for daytime wear. Cardinal calls it a "color on the run" option because it's so easy to throw on for just a bit of color before you head out the door, so you’re polished without looking made-up. An added bonus is that this lipstick contains antioxidants for some superficial anti-aging benefits.
Revlon
Michelle Phillips, makeup expert and author of “The Beauty Blueprint,” chooses a pinkish-hued peach from the Super Lustrous line by Revlon in the color Demure. “I love the moisturizers in it that not only keep my lips from drying out but keep the color locked on,” she says.
Trish McEvoy
Cardinal says the Sheer Lip Color by Trish McEvoy in Florence is another favorite choice for a neutral, sheer peach lipstick. “This beautiful sheer lip color goes on lightly to give the lips a brilliant sheen with a pop of color,” says Cardinal. She thinks it's a perfect choice when you’re going for a natural look for daytime. This lip color offers the high shine of a gloss without the stickiness.
