The hustle and bustle of everyday life often leaves little time for taking care of ourselves. Lack of sleep, allergies, fatigue and stress are common causes of dark bags under the eyes. No one wants to walk around with dark bags under their eyes. Expensive creams and serums are available that claim to get rid of bags under the eyes. But who has the money to spend a fortune on these costly products? There are natural ways you can get rid of dark bags without breaking the bank.

Eye Exercises

1.

Sit straight in a comfortable chair and close your eyes. Relax for about one minute. Lift your eyebrows to stretch the upper eyelid and hold them in the upright position for two seconds. Relax them for two seconds. Repeat this process 10 times, holding them upright for two seconds then relaxing them for two seconds.

2.

Sitting in an upright position with your eyes opened, look down, then up, look left, then right while holding your pupil in each of the four positions for one second. Do this 10 times.

3.

Sit straight with your eyes opened. Place your index finger and middle finger of each hand under its respective eye, situating the fingers right where the dark bags appear. Use your eyelids to lift your fingers. Apply only minimal pressure to the eyes with your fingers. Do this 20 times.

4.

Lay flat and close your eyes for five minutes after completing the exercises to give your eyes a chance to relax.

Other Remedies

1.

Use a hand-held juicer to extract the juice of cucumbers and potatoes so that you have equal parts in a bowl. All you need is a couple tablespoons of the combined juices. Soak two cotton balls in the juice, lay flat with your eyes closed, and put the cotton balls on your eyelids. Let them sit for 20 minutes, then wash your eyes with a cool water. Alternatively, cover your eyelids with a slice of raw cucumber or potato and leave it on for 20 minutes. Wash your eyes with warm water. Do this daily until the bags are gone.

2.

Massage the affected area with almond oil at bed time. Use your fingers to gently massage under the eyes with the oil. Do this for a couple of minutes each night for two weeks. Hold a hot cloth on the eyes, then a cold cloth, for 10 minutes each prior to applying the almond oil to further help reduce the dark bags.

3.

Make a paste of one part turmeric powder and three parts pineapple juice. Use a cotton ball to rub the mixture over the dark bags. Let it sit on the eyes for 10 to 15 minutes before gently wiping it off with a damp cloth. Do this daily until the bags are gone.
