If your lips are feeling a little dry and flaky, up the ante and exfoliate them. Chap sticks and lip glosses definitely help to hydrate your pucker, but sometimes you need just a little something more. Finding a natural way to exfoliate your lips is easy and doesn't take much time, so add one more step to your beauty regimen and make your lips soft and supple.

You don't necessarily need any product at all to exfoliate. Try using a toothbrush to do the job. Stick to soft bristle brushes. Harder ones will probably be a little too rough on your lips. Just brush back and forth as if you were cleaning your teeth. Finish up with a little bit of chap stick to soothe.

Speed things up and exfoliate in the shower. If your toothbrush -- even a soft bristle one -- is too much for you, rub a washcloth across your lips instead. It'll be a little more gentle but will still do the trick. Getting a good smooth pout not only keeps your lips softer, but it helps your lip color to go on more smoothly, so try exfoliating before you make yourself up.

Sugar Scrub

In the mood for something a little sweet? Try concocting a sugar scrub to exfoliate your lips. Just mix sugar with petroleum jelly or olive oil. Then, rub across your lips for a few seconds to slough away dry skin. Make sure to wipe off completely. Sugar's yummy -- but you probably won't want to eat it when it's mixed with olive oil or petroleum jelly.

Double Duty

If your lips are super dry, pack more of a punch by combining two techniques. Instead of just using your toothbrush, apply a little bit of your sugar scrub to it and brush it on your lips to get them extra smooth. You probably won't want to brush your teeth with that brush again, so make sure to get yourself an extra one that you use just for exfoliating.
