Removing makeup after a day's wear isn't rocket science, but it is a necessary step in maintaining healthy, glowing and sexy skin. But not all makeup removers are created equal. A little confused about where to start your search? Learn which top natural makeup removers from the beauty aisle are safe, nontoxic and effective at leaving your skin clean and fabulous.
Natural Brands
Stock up on trusted natural brands recommended by Natural Solutions magazine. Their list of favorite makeup removers includes Skin Apricot Eyes, which uses seven indulgent oils to remove stubborn eye makeup and nourish the delicate eye area, and Femme Makeup Remover, which uses shea butter and olive oil to whisk away the last traces of makeup.
Makeup Remover Wipes
Beauty consultant and editor-in-chief of Blinging Beauty, Tracey Brown, who has lent her expertise on CNN and CBS adores makeup wipes. "They save time, especially at night when I really don't have the energy to remove my makeup," Brown said. One of her favorite natural makeup remover brands is Physician's Formula Organic Wear Makeup Wipes, found in drugstores. Brown also recommends Josie Maran Bear Naked Wipes, which are soft and biodegradable."Keep them by your bedside for those late nights where you simply can't bare to spend the extra energy washing your face," Brown advised.
Olive Oil
On a budget or simply want to make more use of supplies you already own? Head to the kitchen for an easy solution for removing makeup naturally. Carol Firenze, author of "The Passionate Olive---101 Things to Do with Olive Oil," recommends using extra-virgin olive oil, as it is pure and non-irritating, making it perfectly safe for use around the eyes. "Pour a small amount of oil onto a clean cotton pad and gently wipe over your eyelashes and eyelids," advised Firenze. "Or, you can pour a small amount in your hand and with your other hand smooth the oil over your eyes and eyelids." To remove all traces of makeup, use a clean cotton pad or soft tissue. Not only will all of your eye makeup be completely gone, but the delicate skin on your eyelids will be moisturized and glowing.
Making Your Own
Feeling crafty? Mix up your own homemade makeup removers with a few simple supplies straight from your kitchen. Dab your cotton pad or a face cloth in cucumber juice and baby oil, raw milk, lemon juice or even tomato juice to get your skin squeaky clean and makeup-free. All of these are great for removing residue and will save you a few bucks in the process.
