Our face can be our best friend or our worst enemy. One day it's glowing and the next it's irritated and pimply. Skin care products such as facial cleansers can actually be the culprit of irritated skin. If you don't use the right skin care product for your skin type and skin needs, you could be doing more harm than good. Natural facial cleansers are a great start to healthy, radiant skin.
All Skin Types
If it works wonders for celebrities, it just might work for you. Esthetician and movie and film makeup artist Patty Bell uses Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser for all of her celebrity clients. She loves this gentle cleanser because it works best for sensitive skin. She says she uses it with complete confidence, knowing it will never make her actors break out. You can even use Cetaphil without water. It cleanses and moisturizes the skin and can be removed with a simple tissue, for those busy women on the go. It's fragrance free and costs under $10. Top beauty blogger Risi-Leanne Baranja recommends Organic Pure's Aloe Vera-Honey facial cleanser. She says it's organic and works for all skin types. It even leaves a refreshing scent behind.
Dry Skin
Having fabulous skin is at the top of every woman's to do list. If a product has the word "fabulous" in it, it must be -- well, fabulous -- right? Todra Payne, founder of The Healthy Beauty Project, recommends Clairvoyant Fabulous Facial Cleaning Oil for dry skin. The ingredients in this nonclogging magic cleansing oil include avocado oil, lemon, lavender, vitamin E and essential ingredients like jasmine and blue chamomile. Payne says these ingredients thoroughly cleanse the skin while contributing age-fighting benefits.
Oily Skin
It is probably common sense to know that you shouldn't apply oil cleansers and other skin care products to already oily skin. Payne recommends using Face Naturals Organic Purify Foaming Facial Cleanser. Foaming products are known to dry skin, so using it on oily skin, combined with ingredients like peppermint and tea tree oils create the perfect balance for oily skin. It cleanses the skin without drying it excessively.
Ingredients to Look For
There are tons of great ingredients that will help your skin do exactly what you want it to without hurting it further. Some of the best ingredients to look for include sweet almond oil, which improves the complexion by deeply moisturizing the skin, jojoba oil which penetrates and moisturizes, green tea which protects against damage with antioxidants, and vitamins C and E, which stimulate collagen synthesis, fight environmental damage and heal, restore and nourish the skin, according to Faith Zelenko of Bambola Beauty.
Ingredients to Avoid
Usually, if the ingredient is easy to read and is something we all know, like coconut oil or avocado oil, it's part of the natural ingredient family. However, there are ingredients all women should know about before purchasing their natural cleanser. According to Dr. Stefanie Christian of Timeless Laser and Skin Care, some ingredients to avoid include propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium fluoride and cocamide DEA.
