How to Get Nail Polish to Last Longer With Acrylic Powder

Try the acrylic powder on your toenails first until you get the hang of it.

We’ve all painted our nails with regular nail polish, only to find our pretty new nails chipping only a day or two later. Unless you want to re-do your nails every few days, you might want to find some ways to help make your nail polish last a little longer. One method is to add acrylic powder, which you can buy at many beauty supply stores, to the nail polish.

1.

Wash your hands with soap and water and clean under your fingernails with a soft brush.

2.

Apply regular nail polish to the nails as usual and let the nail polish dry thoroughly. Only apply one coat of nail polish and keep the polish as even and smooth as possible.

3.

Pour some liquid acrylic into a small dish. Open the acrylic powder, which is usually white in color, and set the powder next to the liquid acrylic.

4.

Dip your brush into the liquid acrylic, wipe off the excess with a paper towel, and dip the brush into the liquid again, scraping the brush against the sides of the dish to get all the excess off.

5.

Dab the tip of the brush into the powder acrylic and lift up the brush. A little ball of acrylic will form on the tip of the brush.

6.

Set the ball of acrylic gently onto the top edge of the first nail and work quickly to spread the acrylic to the corners of the nail. Repeat this process with each nail.

7.

Let the acrylic dry for at least 10 minutes; it must be thoroughly dry. Use a nail file to gently buff out any bumps in the acrylic. Wash hands with soap and water.
