A properly fitting bra will give you the support you need. A bra can also help you showcase your chest, if that is your goal, or it can help you minimize it, too. The most important part in choosing a bra is measuring your chest properly with a tape measure. Once you have your measurements, you are ready to choose a bra. Measuring bra size in the United Kingdom is the same as measuring bra size in the U.S.

Take your current bra off for the most accurate measuring.

Wrap the tape measure around your rib cage immediately under your breasts. This is the spot where your bra would end if you were wearing one. Make sure the tape measure encircles your chest evenly and note the measurement in inches.

Add 4 inches to this measurement if it's an even number and add 5 inches to this measurement if it's an odd number. This will be the band size you need for your bra.

Wrap the tape measure around the fullest point of your breasts next. Keep the tape measure even and don't squish your breasts too much as you measure. This will be the bust size.

Subtract the band size from the bust size to figure out your cup size. If the two measurements are equal, you need an "A" cup. If the difference is 1 inch, get a "B" cup, 2 inches equals a "C" cup and so on.
