When it comes to creating the most beautiful makeup artistry, you don't have to spend a pretty penny. There are many makeup products that can give higher priced labels a run for the money. Whether you are an aspiring makeup artist building a kit or simply out to learn a few tips and tricks, being a savvy makeup maven can help you to stretch your dollars further.
What's in a Label?
Don't be fooled by glamorous packaging and brilliant marketing claims. This is the first step in seeing beyond the silver lining. While a beautifully packaged makeup product is tempting, it is possible to find close to the same product at the drugstore. The drugstore product may not come with the beautiful packaging, but once you apply the makeup and it does its job, the packaging won't matter. From foundation to lip gloss, there are many competitive products for half the price of the department store brands.
Two-in-One
For unruly brows that need a bit of taming, clear drugstore brand mascara can work wonders for keeping brows in place. If you need a bit of color on your cheeks and don't have blush, try gently dabbing a bit of coral or rose toned lipstick on the apples of your cheek and blending. This can work well for a beautiful monochromatic makeup effect and if your skin is dry, the lipstick will not appear chalky. Lipstick can work similarly to a cream blush.
Tips and Tricks
Purchase an inexpensive white eyeliner at the drugstore. Applying white eyeliner to the inner rims of your eyes can make them look bigger and more awake. This is an inexpensive and easy way to beautify your peepers. Using a bit of petroleum jelly on cracked lips can help lips to heal more quickly. Applying it after lipstick application can give lips a glossy look. Try dabbing the petroleum jelly in the center of the lips only -- this will give the illusion of fuller lips.
Drugstore Doubles
It's not necessary to invest in high-priced foundations to get flawless looking skin. There are many drugstore makeup brands that can lend the same beautiful benefits as the high dollar department store brands. Many eye shadows, blushers, lipsticks and mascaras found at the drugstore can work just as well as their department store counterparts. Many drugstores also offer shopper rewards cards and coupons, so be sure to enroll in these programs to get an even bigger bang for your buck.
