When you need a classic updo that exudes chic elegance, think polished and smooth. The sleek Evita bun is a bun at the nape of the neck, so named for Maria Eva Duarte (Evita), who often wore her hair in this signature updo. You'll need hair at least medium-length to pull off this 'do, which is perfect for weddings, proms and casual events.

Work a smidge of hair mousse into your hair with your fingers to give it some texture.

Brush your hair back into a low ponytail. You need your hair smooth and sleek as you pull it back, so brush it well as you make the ponytail. Secure the ponytail with the hair band, positioning the ponytail about 2 inches above the nape of your neck.

Lift the ponytail up and wrap it in a circle around the hair band to make a bun. Keep wrapping as many times as you have to -- long hair will wrap several times, medium-length hair may only wrap once.

Stick bobby pins in around your wrapped hair to secure the bun; place a bobby pin about every 1 to 2 inches to hold your bun tightly.

Spray the bun and all of your hair lightly with hair spray. If you're going for the Evita look, keep the 'do severe, and don't let any tendrils escape. If you prefer a softer look, you can pull out a few tendrils to frame your face.

Freshly washed hair isn't necessary to create this updo, but if you're due for a shampoo, wash and condition your hair and air dry it, or blow it dry, brushing it with a paddle brush as you dry.
The way you wrap your ponytail around to create the bun will determine what your bun looks like. If you wrap your hair tightly, your bun will be tight and compact. If you wrap your hair loosely, your bun will be big and soft.
