If you're tired of spending big bucks on tiny tubes of flavored lip gloss, give your budget a break and make your own cherry-coconut lip gloss. You may be surprised how enjoyable it is to make lip gloss at home, and the result will be lip smackin' good lip gloss that will keep your lips smooth and supple. Make enough cherry and coconut lip gloss to share with your friends, or save a few containers for last minute Christmas or birthday gifts.

1.

Place 1/4 cup coconut oil in the top of a double boiler, or in a microwaveable cup. Add 2 tbsp. sweet almond oil, 4 tbsp. grated beeswax and 1/4 tsp. cocoa butter.

2.

Heat the ingredients over low heat until the oils melt, but don't allow the mixture to boil. To melt the ingredients in a microwave oven, place them in the microwave for 4 to 5 seconds at a time, stirring after each interval. Stir the warm mixture until the oils completely blend.

3.

Stir in 1 tbsp. honey and eight to 10 drops of cherry essential oil. Adjust the amount of cherry essential oil, one drop at a time, to suit your preference. Add two to three drops of food coloring or a small piece of red lipstick to the warm lip gloss if you prefer tinted lip gloss.

4.

Stir the mixture thoroughly, then spoon the cherry and coconut lip gloss into small, sterile jars, tins or lip gloss tubes.

5.

Allow the cherry and coconut lip gloss to cool and set. Use the lip gloss as desired.
