1.
Whip out your tape measure and measure a 13-inch length of beading cord.
2.
Lay the two hair combs on a flat work surface with the spines facing each other. Position the two combs so the spines are about 2 inches apart with the teeth facing outward.
3.
Start threading the beading cord through the holes in the combs, starting in the upper holes of the right comb. The beading cord goes down through the bottom hole and back up through the upper hole. Pull the cord through so 2 inches of cord sticks out from the bottom hole.
4.
String 22 seed beads onto the beading cord and insert the cord down through the upper hole of the top pair of holes in the left comb. Go back up through the bottom hole and pull the cord through to make the seed beads snug between the two cords.
5.
Add 22 seed beads on the cord again and poke it down through the upper hole of the middle pair of holes in the right comb. Push the cord back up through the bottom hole and pull it through to make the beads nice and snug.
6.
String 22 seed beads on the cord and insert it down through the upper hole of the bottom pair of holes in the left comb. Get the pattern yet? You’re going back and forth in zigzag fashion between the two combs. Insert the cord back up through the bottom hole and pull the cord taut.
7.
Place 22 beads onto the cord and insert the cord down through the bottom hole of the bottom pair of holes in the right comb. Insert the cord back up through the upper hole and pull the cord taut.
8.
Add 22 more beads onto the cord and insert the cord down through the bottom hole of the middle pair of holes in the left comb. Hang in there -- you’re almost done! Insert the cord back up through the bottom hole and pull the cord through to make the beads snug.
9.
Add 22 more beads onto the cord and insert the cord down through the bottom hole of the top pair of holes in the right comb. Insert the cord back up through the upper hole and pull the cord to make the beads snug.
10.
Tie the two ends of the beading cord together in a surgeon’s knot -- just like a square knot except you add an extra pass through the loop as you’re tying the second half of the knot. Pull the knot super tight so it won’t budge, then put a dot of adhesive onto the knot to keep it from untying.
11.
Hide the ends of the beading cord by tucking them inside the beads right next to the knot. Cut off any excess cord to finish.
