How to Maintain a Crocodile Purse

Overview

Splurge on a feisty crocodile purse and you'll want to keep it looking ferocious for years. Crocodile leather is an exotic leather -- the wild, uptown cousin of tame cow leather. A crocodile purse demands special care to keep it fierce. Maintaining a croc purse isn't hard -- a little effort and your hot handbag will stay in killer condition season after season.

1.

Don't store your wild bag in the direct sun. This will dry out the leather and it will lose that gorgeous sheen. Keep your croc handbag away from heat sources also, because this could dry it out to the point of cracking.

2.

Keep your crocodile purse out of the rain. Extreme damage could result if your bag gets drenched.

3.

Protect your purse from bumps and falls. This exotic leather can scratch and crack with abuse.

4.

Accidental spills on your bag could stain it permanently. The exotic leather could also absorb the spill, which would mar the crocodile skin and trash your bag.

5.

Wipe moisture off your bag immediately with the soft cloth. Empty your bag and place it in a warm spot to dry -- away from direct heat and sun.

6.

Clean the croc skin with a damp cloth if it gets dirty. Wipe it gently and then buff it dry.

7.

Use an exotic leather cleaner only if a damp cloth doesn't do the job. Saturate a cloth with the cleaner and wipe it over the leather. Follow instructions for the leather cleaner carefully to make sure you keep your dangerous bag in perfect shape.
