Uh, oh. You're getting your picture taken tomorrow, but you've binged all week on pizza and cookies. They say the camera adds 10 lbs., and you're just hoping those 10 lbs. won't bring along some friends. Not to sweat! You don't need to rush out for lipo or even lift a finger at the gym. There are several slimming tips and tricks you can use to hide the pudge.
Stand at an angle to the camera to look instantly slimmer. Think: beauty pageant stance or red carpet look. You simply trick the eye by not showing the full width or girth of your body.
Use your arms to cover body parts you're not so hot about. Fold your arms at your midsection to camouflage your belly. Hang your arms to your sides to hide your thighs if you want them to look slimmer.
Check your posture. If you're slumped over, it can create a pooch at your waist. Stand up straight and push your shoulders back.
Watch what you wear. Avoid horizontal stripes, which trick the eye into thinking you are wider than you are. Wear black. That slenderizing color hides curves, dips and bulges on camera.
Suck in your cheeks slightly to give chubby cheeks a hollower effect. Whatever you do, don't suck in too deeply. You don't want to look like a fish.
If your body shape bothers you, ask the photographer to shoot a head shot from a location a little above you. That way, if you're self-conscious about a double chin, it will be eliminated in a camera angle.
