Jeans may be mighty comfortable, but they can also make you feel like you raided your boyfriend's closet. That means it's up to you to make your jeans look more girly with some styling finesse. Denim may not be the most feminine fabric on the market, but you can give your look an extra dose of estrogen with the right accessories and companion pieces.
Tailoring
Jeans are a casual favorite, but they're also super easy to gussy up with the right companion pieces. To add a polished, feminine element, wear jeans with a soft flowing blouse made in a light fabric topped with a cute tailored blazer or a girly cardigan. Anything made of soft, sheer fabric, like chiffon, adds a ladylike softness to a rough pair of jeans. You'll get bonus girly points for blouses with ruffles, tie fronts and feminine floral patterns.
Dress to Impress
If jeans make you feel like a dude, why not wear them with a dress? This won't work with just any pair of jeans, and it won't work with any type of dress, but when pulled off right it can look both feminine and daring. This look really only works with skinny jeans, since baggier models can make you look too dumpy. Also, make sure your dress isn't too tight -- aim for a tunic-style or A-line baby-doll dress that hits above your knees and looks more like a longer, loose shirt.
Color and Accessories
Amp up the girl factor by bringing in beautiful, feminine colors to surround those muted jeans. Jeans and a white shirt may look pretty gender neutral, but jeans and a hot pink top screams "woman." If pink is too obvious, try a lovely lavender, a pretty peach or a vibrant yellow. And don't be afraid to mix colors and patterns, which can look both feminine and fun. Accessories can also doll up a pair of jeans. Try colored gemstones, dangling earrings, sparkling bracelets or a killer purse.
Footwear
Let's face it -- there's really no way a pair of jeans isn't going to look girly when paired with a pair of heels, so break out your feminine footwear for a quick girly fix. If your jeans are looser around the ankles, roll up the cuffs so they don't flop over your heels. And if you don't like traditional heels, try a girly shoe that's lower to the ground, like a sparkly sandal or a pair of ultra-femme Mary Janes or ballet flats.
