What Lipstick Looks Good With Honey Brown Hair?

Go for nude lipstick with your honey brown hair, like Mariah Carey sported at the 25th Film Independent Spirit Awards in Los Angeles in 2010.

Honey brown tresses are ideal for experimenting with lipstick colors. Your amber-hued strands are neither super-light nor super-dark, so you can easily choose from "barely there" tones, pops of color, and deep lipsticks without worrying that you'll end up looking washed out or too done up. Get inspired with a few new colors that work beautifully with your honey hair for a stunning finish.

Nude

Opt for nude lipstick with your honey brown hair whether you're in the mood for a natural look or you're craving bold eyes and cheeks. Imagine you're wearing black mascara on your top and bottom lashes with sheer pink blush: Nude lipstick will give you that put-together finish without adding color. Now imagine you're wearing a super-dark smoky eye and vibrant peach blush -- the last thing you want to do is bring in more color. Swipe on nude lipstick and your look is complete.

Bright Pink

Your honey brown hair already sparkles and illuminates your look; however, adding a pop of colorful lipstick can really amp up your appearance for a vibrant finish. Whether your skin is fair, medium or deep, swiping on bright pink lipstick works for everyone. If you have a cool skin tone, opt for a hot purplish pink lip. If you have a warm skin tone, go for a hot pink that leans toward a red hue. Add black mascara to your eyes and sheer blush that matches your lipstick -- that's all it takes.

Vibrant Red

Red always looks good, but with honey brown hair, the light warm tones in your tresses play extremely well with the vibrant, fiery hue of your lipstick. If you have cool skin, stick with red lipstick that has blue undertones. If you have warm skin, go for orange-based reds. Try out a '60s-inspired look with your red lips. Line your top lids with black liquid eyeliner, continuing the line out a bit at your outer corners for a cat's-eye effect. Add two coats of black mascara to your top lashes only. Sweep on a bit of blush -- pink for cool skin tones or peach for warm skin tones -- and you're done.

Peach

Go for shimmery peach lipstick to warm up honey brown hair -- this look is particularly ideal for summer days or when you're looking for a fresh, dewy vibe. The key to picking the right peach is going for lipstick with pink undertones if you have a cool complexion and going for a classic apricot-peach if you have a warm complexion. Sweep on a little shimmery nude eyeshadow and apply shimmery peach blush to the apples of your cheeks ... and enjoy your dewy look.
