All you beauty mavens probably know how many lip products are out there to ensure that your lips look smooth, colorful and kissable. But, with so many different options to choose from, you might find it difficult to decide which product best suits your needs. Lip tint, lipstick and lip balm all work magic on lips, but just what is the difference? Let's get to the bottom of these lip-appealing products.
Lip Product Basics
Having silky smooth, kissable lips can definitely help you achieve fierceness. However, different products create different lip-licious results. You must first decide if you want shine, long-lasting color or hydration. Then you can look to a lip tint, lipstick or lip balm, or a combination of those, to achieve it, as none of these products can do it all. So take your individual lip needs and desires into consideration before you decide on one of these lip applications.
Lipstick
There is almost nothing more feminine than lipstick. It smacks of sexiness, sophistication and glamour. For a lip color that goes on smooth and comes in a variety of colors, lipstick is the way to go. While there are various kinds of lipsticks that hydrate lips and provide shine, traditionally lipstick has a drying and creasing effect that is not conducive to long hours of wear. But even if your lipstick doesn't do all the things you'd like, it's still great to have tubes on hand to layer over or underneath other products for rich color.
Lip Tint
When you want a long-lasting wash of color that won't easily rub off, lip tint is the ticket. Sort of a comfortable medium between lipstick and lip gloss, lip tint provides color that can survive the rigors of the day, but it doesn't offer much shine. If a matte, almost natural lip color look is what you're going for, a lip tint is perfect, but if you like the high shine look of gloss, be prepared to layer the two. Due to its deep wash of color, lip tint is often used on the cheeks to double as a blush. While lip tint is long lasting, it's not as easy to remove as lipstick, either. Use makeup remover wipes or a special lip tint remover product to rid your lips of the tint.
Lip Balm
As a little girl, one of your first introductions to makeup was probably through the use of lip balm. The sweet taste, intoxicating smell and light (almost invisible) wash of color is perfect for little girls to experiment and embrace their inner beauty mavens. But just because you grow up, you don't have to abandon your lip balm fascination. Lip balm is a tried-and-true way to ensure your lips stay hydrated and silky smooth. Your lips are one of the first places on your body that get dry or chapped due to weather or dried saliva, and they also are one of the initial places people see when they look at you. Lip balm is the best for traditional hydration and moisture because it contains less color and more moisturizing elements that go deep into the creases of your lips for a naturally smooth result. Lip balm is so essential that men use it just as frequently as women. Nevertheless, while lip balm is a great hydration product, it does not offer much color or shine. That makes it perfect to slather on before bed. It allows you to hydrate even while sleeping.
