Lip Liner Colors

Overview

It's not a necessity, but applying lip liner to your lips does create a precise look that is essential when you want lip color that lasts a little longer than usual. There are other benefits to lip liner as well. It helps prevents your chosen lip color form sliding, feathering or bleeding, while providing an expert application. Naturally, there are many colors of lip liner to choose from, however there are a few color groups that every beauty addict should know.

Neutrals

Hands down, this is the essential lip liner color group that every lady should keep handy because it truly works wonders. Lip liners in the neutral color family are fabulous because they offer that natural, effortless look that is perfect for daily wear. Nudes, browns and shades of tawny pink are just a few of the colors within the neutral lip liner stable. Additionally, neutral lip liner makes it incredibly easy to go without any traditional lip color. All you have to do is line your outer lips, fill them in with the liner and apply a clear gloss.

Reds

Red is one of the hardest lip colors to wear, largely because of the way it tends to bleed and feather while you're wearing it. A simple way to eliminate the messiness that often accommodates red lip color, is to line your lips with the appropriate crimson shade. Also, if you fill in your lips with lip liner, your lip color is guaranteed to last longer because the liner helps it to stay put for longer wearing time. There are dozens of red shades to choose from to perfectly match your lip color, however if you want a little contrast choose one shade lighter or darker.

Pinks

A perfectly pink pout is the ultimate girly accessory. Since pink runs the gamut from barely there to boldly in your face, you might find it difficult to know what type of lip liner is best. For faint pink lip colors you want to create definition, so use a lip liner that is a shade darker to avoid your lip color from fading into the background. Darker pinks benefit from lip liner in the exact shade or one shade lighter to tone down the intensity.

Peaches/Corals

Fun, flirty and flattering, lip color in shades of peach and coral is a great way to equally warm up your complexion and offer you a wash of color that's a nice alternative to pink. Due to the yellow undertones and hints of gold and orange mixed into both colors, you have a little more room to experiment with your lip liner. A soft coral liner looks good combined with an understated peach lip, while peach liner softens the deep orange tone that occupies many coral shades.
