Overview
Sometimes nothing but the biggest and snazziest hair will do. When you need a major ponytail that grabs attention, do a lifted ponytail on the top of your head. The exuberant energy of your hair as it bursts out of this ‘do should be enough to keep you going all day or evening. Lifted ponytails can be just the style for a fashionista who wants to shout her mojo to the world.
1.
Coat your strands evenly with a generous dollop of texturizing spray. Work the goodness through from roots to ends.
2.
Air-dry your mane or give it a boost with the blow-dryer. Rough-dry it on medium heat, running your fingers through your locks until they’re good and dry.
3.
Backcomb the front of your hair along the top of your head. Grab 1-inch sections of hair and hold them straight up. While you’ve got them in the air, backcomb with the teasing brush to add edgy oomph to your hair. Keep going just like this until you’ve got teased sections all over the front top half of your head.
4.
Switch to the paddle brush and lightly brush your hair back to smooth the top layer. Keep a light touch as you brush or your teasing will deflate.
5.
Pull your hair into a ponytail that sits high on your head, right behind the teasing. Don’t pull your hair too tight or you’ll destroy your teasing efforts. Fasten the elastic hair band into the hair to secure the ponytail.
6.
Heat up the flat iron and start grabbing tiny sections of the ponytail. Straighten each section in a random direction. After you finish straightening each section, spritz it generously with hair spray so that it keeps its lift and stands straight up or at an angle. Keep going just like this until you’ve created all the lift you want in your ponytail.
7.
Spritz the entire ‘do with a little more hair spray to give it the staying power it needs to last all day or evening.
