Wearing a dress in cold weather can be a tricky situation. You can't exactly wear your snowboarding jacket with your little black dress, but you don't want to freeze either. So do you forgo looking sassy in your dress because of the jacket dilemma? For the love of Louis, no. A few options are available that will keep you warm and looking good.
The Leather Biker Jacket
One of the best dress-and-jacket combinations you can rock is a flirty, frilly frock with a leather bike jacket, says stylist and author Jene Luciani. "The juxtaposition of the styles looks edgy and of-the-moment," explains Luciani. Indeed, the contrast of the totally girly dress with the hip and rugged jacket gives you rock-star style and attitude.
Peacoat
A peacoat always goes well with a dress, as it is classy, stylish and totally adorable. "Just make sure the length is right -- the coat should never be shorter than the dress, unless it's meant to be cropped," Luciani says. This type of jacket goes great with just about any type of dress and looks particularly stylish with a pair of heeled boots.
Blazer-Style Jacket
A man's blazer-style jacket is a cute way to add a fun twist to a dress, particularly if it's formal. However, choose one that is fitted and tailored to your body to prevent looking like you grabbed it out of your best guy friend's closet, suggests Luciani. Formal dresses look totally adorable with the blazer, as do cocktail dresses.
Fur Coat
You can never go wrong when rocking a fur coat, whether it's real or not. "They always look luxurious and amp up the glam factor with an evening gown," Luciani says. "It's especially suitable for a holiday event." If you want to add some touch and sparkle to your next affair, rock the fur coat -- you'll stay warm and look even hotter.
