The belt is a magical tool for the fashionista. It is an accessory that comes in endless looks for each and every personal style and accentuates the smallest part of a lady: her waist. The versatility of the belt makes it a must-have accessory as it looks fabulous over tops of myriad styles. With an array of belts in your wardrobe, you can turn a dull shirt into an expertly styled ensemble with the ease of fastening a buckle.

A Blouse

Whether you’re wearing a basic white blouse to work, or a funky floral one on a date, you can wear a belt. It’s as easy as coordinating the color of your belt with your outfit and fastening it around your waist. If your blouse extends past your hips, you can try belting it lower for a different, but equally fashionable vibe. With a cute belt, you’ll add a bit of structure to a flowy top and create a chic contrast.

A Cardigan

You don’t need to limit yourself to a thin top to pull off a belt. According to fashion experts at InStyle, you can layer a belt over a cardigan, which can eliminate some of the bulk that comes with sweater-wearing. To keep a feminine silhouette here, they recommend a thin leather belt or a braided one with the end tucked in.

A Tunic

You know those shirts that are almost dresses, but not quite? Those tunics are perfect belt companions. Ordinarily they would completely hide your lovely shape but a belt will do away with this secrecy. Fasten it around your waist or your hips to create a cute and more form-fitting top that looks fabulous over jeans or leggings.

A Vest

If you have a menswear-inspired vest or a long feminine wrap vest, add a belt for insta-complexity. This will be practical -- it will keep your vest closed -- but will also be oh-so-stylish. Add a super feminine belt to a masculine vest or a masculine belt with lots of hardware to a feminine sweater vest for a chic contrast and visual interest.
